Who we are
One source for complete chromatography
SYKAM — Systems and Components for Analytical Measurement — has been developing and producing chromatography instruments in southern Bavaria since the early 1990s. From our facility in Fürstenfeldbruck, just west of Munich, we design, manufacture, and test complete analytical systems, modular components, separation columns, reagents, and software. Everything your laboratory needs comes from one source, built to work together from day one.
We operate as both a direct instrument supplier and an OEM manufacturing partner, with our components and systems active in laboratories across 50+ countries. Research institutions, food safety laboratories, pharmaceutical quality control departments, and industrial monitoring facilities rely on Sykam instrumentation — not because we are the largest name in the industry, but because we build systems that perform exactly as specified, supported by a team that understands the application behind the measurement.
Engineering & quality
Engineering That Earns Its Place in Your Lab
Every innovation we introduce solves a specific, measurable problem — not a problem we invented for a brochure.
Our patented Auto-Suppressor eliminated the need for consumable suppressor cartridges in ion chromatography, reducing running costs and removing a maintenance variable from routine workflows. Our Teflon AF® degasser delivers higher gas permeability and a smaller internal volume than standard PTFE membrane designs — and we back it with a five-year warranty because we have measured the performance difference. Our dual-needle autosampler design was a direct response to a chronic septum blockage problem that affected reproducibility in high-throughput injection sequences. Each development started with a problem that our partners were experiencing in practice.
Quality is verified at every stage before a system leaves our facility. Pumps are tested to ±0.1% RSD. Detectors are verified for noise and drift. Autosamplers are validated for injection reproducibility across the full volume range. Every separation column ships with a reference chromatogram. When we publish a specification, it reflects day-one performance under defined conditions — not a theoretical limit drawn from ideal circumstances. Our DIN ISO 9001 certified quality management system provides full traceability from incoming materials through to outgoing instruments.
Partnership
A Partner, Not Just a Supplier
We listen to what you are doing before we recommend what you should use.
The analytical problems our partners bring to us are rarely simple. Complex matrices, sensitive detection requirements, non-standard sample volumes, tight regulatory constraints — the laboratories that come to us have usually already found that off-the-shelf solutions fall short. Our starting point is always the application: what you are measuring, in what matrix, at what throughput, under what compliance framework. From there we configure the right system — or develop one that does not yet exist in our catalogue.
That approach extends beyond the initial installation. Through our international partner network we provide local application training, technical support, and on-site service in the regions where our instruments operate. And for partners who need to go further, our research collaborations — including the bee2diversity biodiversity programme combining chromatography with DNA sequencing and molecular fingerprinting — demonstrate that Sykam is as comfortable developing new analytical methodology as delivering proven systems. If you have a question we have not answered before, that is where we tend to do our best work.
